Awwwww! Small children!

We went on a tour of some elementary schools with the Jazz Band today. Little kids are so cute! Best moments of the day:

Wayman calls a little girl up to stand next to Nick's bari sax and she is only a few inches taller.

Lillian plays Jaws to demonstrate the string bass, and Tyler (Yes, my brother!) screams. I have never heard him scream so high or loud. Tyler doesn't scream. He's more of a subtle threat person.

Wayman calling Kyden "our Guitar Hero." The kids loved it.

When we were on the fourth school, Ben got the bright idea to bring the stands in through the windows. It took us that long, and it was SO much easier than maneuvering with an instrument in one hand and 1-3 stands in the other.

All four times TJ brought the tuba out from backstage. I have never seen an audience so awed.

Good times, friends. Good times.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

So, this is for all ya'lls mothers, since I desperately hope none of you are mothers... except perhaps Shannah, Aly, and I because we had those fake babies for a weekend... It is perhaps the best, warmest day of the year so far! This is very encouraging...

Prom!!!

I, Erika, actually got asked to prom.
It's odd I never thought that would happen. I'm kind of wondering if the Apocalypse is coming or something, but....

The truth is though, I know nothing about Prom, dances or dating or anything. My Mom is freaking out about finding a dress etc. I have no idea where to even get a dress; it is crazy.

Yes... I will tell you who asked me, but seeing as nearly none of you know him, it will mean little to you: Mckay

Music!

So...our entire music department made it to state. The band, jazz band, main choir, and orchestra...I find that pretty awesome.

We didn't actually get to go to state for Jazz Band, and state for Symphonic Band is on Friday. Wish us (good) luck! I'm in full orchestra too, and that festival is on May...14th? I think...I don't actually know the date...hmmm...oh, well.

Condensed Cliff Notes

Guys! It's been like a month! I'm sure there have been some interesting things going on! Tell us!

Meanwhile...Allison and I were bored and looking stuff up in engineering. So, we Googled "condensed cliff notes," and these are some of my favorites:

The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer (to the tune of the Gilligan's Island theme song)

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a voyage long,
Of pilgrims headed 'cross the land,
Nine and twenty strong.

The Knight was a most distinguished man,
The Skipper brave and sure,
The Doctor had a love for gold,
The Franklin was a whore.
The Franklin was a whore.

The travellers, they found an inn,
The Tabard was its name;
If not for the segues of the Host,
The story would be lame.
The story would be lame.

The pilgrims set out on their course,
St. Christopher they sought;
With the Wife of Bath,
The Miller too,
The Summoner,
And the Reeve,
The Pardoner, and the rest,
To Canterbury they go!

Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne

The allegorically-named Goodman Brown is GOOD. But, at the protests of his allegorically-named wife Faith, he visits the devil and unwittingly becomes BAD. Then he dies.

THE END

Bartleby the Scrivener by Herman Melville

Narrator

Bartleby, do what I tell you.

Bartleby

I would prefer not to.

(Humanity is DOOMED.)

THE END

Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon

Thomas Pynchon

A screaming thing comes across the sky. It's a V-2 rocket carrying twelve thousand pounds of symbolism, and it's coming down on your poor, deluded, postmodern head.

THE END

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair

Bad things happen. Worse things happen. Better things happen. Awful things happen. Jurgis discovers socialism and gets all happy.

THE END

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

Leo Tolstoy

History controls everything we do, so there is no point in observing individual actions. Let's examine the individual actions of over 500 characters at great length.

THE END

Hamlet by William Shakespeare

Hamlet

Whine whine whine...To be or not to be...I'm dead.

Random Indian pearls of wisdom found while googling; don't know if their legit, but they sure are interesting!

Vegitarian- that's an old indian saying for "lousy hunter."

Illegal aliens in the US has always been a problem, ask any Indian.

So, Dallin just sent us an email...Look what he's been cooking up!

Apparently, fried octopus is "yummy." Those were his words exactly.

Jazz Newzz

So, as far as interesting happenings go...our sax section (and Bountiful's) was(were) voted best sax section(s) in the BYU high school jazz festival...so that was exciting. We got a CD and a super cool reed case that can like de-humidify (is that even a word?) and like 90 reeds. 90 expensive JAZZ CUT reeds...which I've never had before! I really like mine.

And then we had Region today...and we failed. Epically. Like...to the point of FACEPALM, to use gamer language. There's a despair.com-like poster with Facepalm...it says: "When what you just did is so stupid words can't describe it" or something like that...

So, yeah...and then we got back late and I missed Young Women's...which is good because I should be doing my AP American and English homework...I have to write a 4 page essay on the American Dream...and finish chapter 35...and do my World War II map...hmmm....I better go.

Sigh... -.-

!!!UPDATE!!!
We made it to state anyway! But we can't go, because it's over tour! But we made it! That proves we are decent after all!
