What Now?

Ok, so seeing as the last four (counting this one) posts were all mine, roughly a month apart, and with few to no comments, I am officially going to take this off my bookmarks...

I suggest we insert Aly's story here...though it is kinda sad. Have some smiley (and other) faces!

End of Term Review

So...I can't believe first term is already over! People who say senior year is supposed to be easy and/or fun are lying! It's hard! And it's not exactly fun...but sometimes it's Fun, as Wayman puts it. It feels good because you've accomplished something.

How has stuff been going for you guys?

Take Me To Your Leader

Hello...Hello...Can anybody hear me? I'm looking for signs of life...particularly in the people I don't see every day...

Did anyone become a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship thing?

School

So...school started. How did that go for everybody?

For me, it's pretty good. Band is small but there is hope that it could be good. Calc sounds like a ton of work. Engineering sounds like a ton of work, but much more fun. I'm depressed I can't take AP English...but at least Aly is in my class! That makes it so much better!

So yeah...how about you guys?

Retry on the Party!

Okay, does Tuesday, August 3rd at 12 pm at the park by the theater work for most people?

Remember to bring food to share!

So far, it seems like the people that can make it are:

Yen, Maddie, Keilee, Delaney, Aly, and most likely Amanda.

That leaves Shannah, Misty, Hillary, Madeline, and Erika. I'm not forgetting anyone, right?

IDK

K, so I don't have a title for it yet. But here is a poem I wrote.

I feel all alone, I cannot see.
The darkness is deep as night.
It seems to flow on for eternity
With no easy end in sight.

I wander around, tears start to come.
The sadness finally flows out.
My heart starts to beat as loud as a drum.
My soul starts to fill with doubt.

Is there anyone out there?
Can someone send me a sign?
I'm sending this out, it's my last prayer.
Can you heal this heart of mine?

Slowly a light shines in the dark.
Am I ready to be freed from these chains?
Can I trust them to heal me, to heal this deep mark?
Or will they just give me more pain.

Is there anyone out there?
Can someone send me a sign?
I'm sending this out, it's my last prayer.
Can you heal this heart of mine?

As the person comes forward, I start to see.
But it's not who I would expect.
Slowly I fall down to my knees
As my savior comes, me to perfect.

I know that he'll always be out there.
I know that he'll send me a sign.
He'll always be there to answer my prayer.
He'll always heal this heart of mine.

Where in the,,,State is Amanda?

I was going to do where in the world, but in all honesty, I haven't yet left Utah. I haven't been home for like any of June, though! I went to Engineering State at Utah State the first week after school ended. It was AMAZING!!! I had a few days, and then I left for GHA (the Governor's Honors Academy) at SUU. It was awesome! Don't ask me to describe it to you...the closest I've gotten was in Jess's words: "Kind of a marathon leadership conference." We listened to speakers and did group stuff like transporting 13 people over a stomach-high rope in less than 3 minutes and saw the world premiere of Great Expectations (the musical) and hiked at Zion's and Bryce and said "Whatever" to Fred and/or Al (inside joke) and...you get the point. All sorts of stuff...

And this week I go to Trek! After that I'll be home for almost all of July!!! What have you guys been up to?

Big News from the Life of Shannah

So, lets try this again. Computer obey my will!!! :-)
So three things.
First- I got an iTouch!!!! I feel so up-to-date and technological. It's awesome! I also have free text, so if you want to text me, e-mail me you're cell number and I will text you. Voila!
Second- Some of you may have heard, but I was in the Miss Syracuse Pageant. I actually won Heart of syracuse which is kinda like Miss Congeniality. I feel like Sandra Bullock! It makes me feel special.
Third- Me and Misty are planning a get together. It will be this Friday. We don't have a time planned so tell us what times work for you. It will be at the soccer field between Hillary's house and Syracuse 6. Everyone bring something to eat, like salad, lunch meat, drinks, bread, or chips. Just comment what you will bring so that we have a little of everything. Send out the word so everyone knows about it. Hope y'all can come!
Love you everyone!!!

Twilight Saga: Eclipse

So...Seeing that we need to do something to salvage this blog, I'm gonna start a post on Twilight.

Any feelings or reactions after the movie? (Mainly Keilee, Shannah, Amanda... Aly ;) )

And what are you guys all doing for 4th of July weekend?

WE'RE SENIORS!!!!!

Can you guys believe it!??!

We're Seniors now!!

So... I was thinking...maybe it's time to reminisce about memories we've had together over the years? Perhaps funny stories of how we met in elementary school or junior high? Everything inbetween then? Our parties? Haha.. the 9th grade awards/dance/party... our wonderful lunch table? Champi, Carter.. Baker (of course!), Johnson (:P), Mme Walsh, the craziness of Canales...

I don't know--you guys do it! Love you all and H.A.G.S! (I just HAD to do it... )

Awwwww! Small children!

We went on a tour of some elementary schools with the Jazz Band today. Little kids are so cute! Best moments of the day:

Wayman calls a little girl up to stand next to Nick's bari sax and she is only a few inches taller.

Lillian plays Jaws to demonstrate the string bass, and Tyler (Yes, my brother!) screams. I have never heard him scream so high or loud. Tyler doesn't scream. He's more of a subtle threat person.

Wayman calling Kyden "our Guitar Hero." The kids loved it.

When we were on the fourth school, Ben got the bright idea to bring the stands in through the windows. It took us that long, and it was SO much easier than maneuvering with an instrument in one hand and 1-3 stands in the other.

All four times TJ brought the tuba out from backstage. I have never seen an audience so awed.

Good times, friends. Good times.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

So, this is for all ya'lls mothers, since I desperately hope none of you are mothers... except perhaps Shannah, Aly, and I because we had those fake babies for a weekend... It is perhaps the best, warmest day of the year so far! This is very encouraging...

:D

Prom!!!

I, Erika, actually got asked to prom.
It's odd I never thought that would happen. I'm kind of wondering if the Apocalypse is coming or something, but....

The truth is though, I know nothing about Prom, dances or dating or anything. My Mom is freaking out about finding a dress etc. I have no idea where to even get a dress; it is crazy.

Yes... I will tell you who asked me, but seeing as nearly none of you know him, it will mean little to you: Mckay

Music!

So...our entire music department made it to state. The band, jazz band, main choir, and orchestra...I find that pretty awesome.

We didn't actually get to go to state for Jazz Band, and state for Symphonic Band is on Friday. Wish us (good) luck! I'm in full orchestra too, and that festival is on May...14th? I think...I don't actually know the date...hmmm...oh, well.

:)

Condensed Cliff Notes

Guys! It's been like a month! I'm sure there have been some interesting things going on! Tell us!

Meanwhile...Allison and I were bored and looking stuff up in engineering. So, we Googled "condensed cliff notes," and these are some of my favorites:

The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer (to the tune of the Gilligan's Island theme song)

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a voyage long,
Of pilgrims headed 'cross the land,
Nine and twenty strong.

The Knight was a most distinguished man,
The Skipper brave and sure,
The Doctor had a love for gold,
The Franklin was a whore.
The Franklin was a whore.

The travellers, they found an inn,
The Tabard was its name;
If not for the segues of the Host,
The story would be lame.
The story would be lame.

The pilgrims set out on their course,
St. Christopher they sought;
With the Wife of Bath,
The Miller too,
The Summoner,
And the Reeve,
The Pardoner, and the rest,
To Canterbury they go!

Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne

The allegorically-named Goodman Brown is GOOD. But, at the protests of his allegorically-named wife Faith, he visits the devil and unwittingly becomes BAD. Then he dies.

THE END

Bartleby the Scrivener by Herman Melville

Narrator

Bartleby, do what I tell you.

Bartleby

I would prefer not to.

(Humanity is DOOMED.)

THE END

Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon

Thomas Pynchon

A screaming thing comes across the sky. It's a V-2 rocket carrying twelve thousand pounds of symbolism, and it's coming down on your poor, deluded, postmodern head.

THE END

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair

Bad things happen. Worse things happen. Better things happen. Awful things happen. Jurgis discovers socialism and gets all happy.

THE END

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

Leo Tolstoy

History controls everything we do, so there is no point in observing individual actions. Let's examine the individual actions of over 500 characters at great length.

THE END

Hamlet by William Shakespeare

Hamlet

Whine whine whine...To be or not to be...I'm dead.

THE END

Random Indian pearls of wisdom found while googling; don't know if their legit, but they sure are interesting!

Vegitarian- that's an old indian saying for "lousy hunter."

Jazz Newzz

So, as far as interesting happenings go...our sax section (and Bountiful's) was(were) voted best sax section(s) in the BYU high school jazz festival...so that was exciting. We got a CD and a super cool reed case that can like de-humidify (is that even a word?) and like 90 reeds. 90 expensive JAZZ CUT reeds...which I've never had before! I really like mine.

And then we had Region today...and we failed. Epically. Like...to the point of FACEPALM, to use gamer language. There's a despair.com-like poster with Facepalm...it says: "When what you just did is so stupid words can't describe it" or something like that...

So, yeah...and then we got back late and I missed Young Women's...which is good because I should be doing my AP American and English homework...I have to write a 4 page essay on the American Dream...and finish chapter 35...and do my World War II map...hmmm....I better go.

Sigh... -.-

!!!UPDATE!!!
We made it to state anyway! But we can't go, because it's over tour! But we made it! That proves we are decent after all!

We Are the Champions!

Syracuse girl's basketball team won state! And we were there! For pep band! Hyperness! Whoot!

Anyway...it was really fun. I was screaming my head off. And I don't scream. Ever. Except for sometimes.

This post is very grammatically incorrect...

GO BAND!!!

Preference....whooda thought

Sooooooo.....I never thought we'd being going to Preference, I mean what guys do we know enough to ask to an awkward dance? It turns out Shannah, Hillary, and I do afterall, or at least we gave into immense pressure.

Shannah didn't have to be persauded at all, she was the persaudee after she asked this one guy you guys don't know. After weeks and weeks of Shannah and Sarah (I LOVE her!-another person you don't know.....maybe, she was in our Geometry class) trying to get us to go, I had completely decided NOT to go.

But then a week or two ago there were some texts between Sarah and her guy friend that she had originally asked FOR me without my knowledge....oi, a long story.....so I gave in and asked him with 10 different alarms in his room that went off at one hour intervals between 1 and 5 am. on Presidents Day. I hardly know him, but oh well.....He answered me in my 1st period Calc class with this equation, it was funny.

Then we finally got Hillary on Monday! Mwahahahaha! She asked her mom's best friend's son that she knows.....it was awesome!

So Shannah, Hillary, and I are going with 3 other couples, it's gonna be a blast!

There's more, but that would make a REALLY long story.

So, yeah.

The Forgotten Fairytale

Once, there was a blog.

It was a nice blog, a tad nerdy, but generally good natured. The little blog was nurtured since infancy by many amazingtastic girls, all contributing a little something to it. But it came to pass that when the blog was celebrating its second year, the girls stopped taking care of it completely.

And the little blog cried and threw a terrible tantrum, the kind that makes mothers in grocery stores want to abandon their screaming, red-faced children. The little blog cried dramatically to no one in particular, "Why?!!!!! Why has everyone forgotten me?!"

And it came to pass that conveniently, at that very moment, an old, matronly, chain-smoker-y-but-very-wise-and-world-weary looking blog was passing by.

"Look kid", she said in a voice that made it abundantly clear that the inside of her lungs were coated with nasty black tar, "I'm sorry, but... blogs are for old people who smell like prunes. The new thing is... Facebook."

"NOOOOOOOO!!!!!" And the little blog sank into a deep depression and died.

The end. :D

May I have some assistance?

Does anybody want to help get a crowd for our Mistborn trailer? Erika, Aly, and I are doing it for English Quest. It'll be fun!

Also, does anyone have any black/really dark blue/ really dark purple blankets we could borrow?

Just curious...
